Discover Barcelona with Stork Rentals: New Location Opening Soon!

We’re so excited to announce the upcoming opening of our newest Stork Rentals location at Barcelona Airport! Starting soon, we’ll be bringing our trusted family travel services to one of Europe’s most beloved destinations.

Barcelona: A Top Destination for Families

Barcelona is often described as a cosmopolitan city with a rich history and culture, and amazing architecture and museums… none of which were of interest to my kids! Yet, I would still describe Barcelona as a super city to visit with kids. There are tonnes of attractions that will keep little ones happy… think of it like “The Simpsons”, there’s something for adults and kids! It’s also really easy to get around; everything is within reasonable walking distance, you don’t need to hire a car, and there are hop-hop off buses to all the main attractions.

Gastronomy is a big thing for the adults, and the food there is worth the trip alone, but one of my biggest surprises in Barcelona was watching my fussy eater tucking in to prawns pil-pil and calamari! You could spend your days just wandering the streets, and stopping off at for a little tapa here, or visiting the famous food market… but add in some of our family favourite attractions, (outlined below), and you have the recipe for a really stand out family break. Word to the wise though, book the attractions in advance as during busy season you might not get in!

Top Family Activities in Barcelona

  1. Explore Park Güell

Parents of young kids tend to spend quite a lot of time in parks, I know! They are safe spaces, with no cars, and kids get to run off a bit of steam and everyone gets some fresh air. But Park Guell is a city park on steroids! It’s huge and it over looks the city so the views are amazing. The architect is the famous Antoni Gaudí, and even my kids found their own appreciation of the mosaic animals and “curly” walls. Definitely worth a visit.

  1. Barcelona Zoo

What kid does not like to go to a zoo? If like me you are more likely to visit the city attractions of other cities, and never what’s on your own doorstep, then why not take a trip to the zoo! For the same reason parents go to parks, they are places where kids can run around safely, without the noise and dangers of city traffic. Located in the beautiful Ciutadella Park, the zoo offers a chance to meet a wide range of animals, from giraffes to dolphins.

  1. Spend a Day at the Beach

It’s one of those cities that has beach and mountains, and who doesn’t enjoy a rest day at the beach! Barcelona’s family-friendly beaches, like Barceloneta and Nova Icaria, provide a relaxing escape. Pack a picnic, build sandcastles, and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine.

  1. Discover Magic at Tibidabo Amusement Park

I’m not a fairground kinda person, but kids do love them, so for those, especially with older kids, this place is worth a mention! Perched on a hill with breathtaking views of the city, Tibidabo is an amusement park full of rides and attractions.

  1. Take a Cable Car Ride

This is something I haven’t done, yet! The Montjuïc cable car offers panoramic views of the city so I know I’d like it, and I think most kids would be excited by the idea of going in a cable car. There’s a castle at the top, and the Juan Miro museum, perhaps not for little kids, but you never know! Even just doing the cable car trip to the top, have a little walk and back again would take an hour or so!

  1. Wander Through the Aquarium

Save the best til last…definitely my family’s favourite; we loved it so much we’ve been twice! Barcelona Aquarium is Amazing! I can still picture the mantra ray flying above us in the underwater tunnels, and my son had to be dragged away from the shark tank. It’s quite big and takes a couple of hours but we all loved it.
